Hominy Prison Worship Ministry

The Hominy Prison Worship Ministry at Dick Connors Correctional Center is a unique and rewarding service for the Lord.  We travel to Hominy, OK once per month (every first Sunday) on Sunday evening to conduct worship services with inmates at Minimum Security and Medium Security Facilities at Connors.

We share in worship services with the inmates in Minimum Security first at 6:00 PM, and then over to Medium Security for 7:30 PM services.

Many of us carpool and leave from Tulsa at 4:45 PM and arrive at Connors in time for the first service at 6:00 PM.  We need singers for all parts and would also like those who would be willing to speak to the inmates, whether you sing or not.  This is an inspiring ministry, once you get to see that the inmates are seeking God and looking to change their lives.

The Warden's rules do not currently allow us to recruit single women. All others are welcome to sign up.  Please contact me or Karen Mouser for forms to fill out. You fill out the form, send it in directly to Oklahoma City for background check and approval.  When you are approved, you receive a letter from the Dept. of Corrections notifying you when you are scheduled to go to the next available orientation held here in Tulsa, currently at Boston Avenue Methodist Church.  At the end of the day of orientation you get your badge, which allows you to enter the prison.

Orientations are usually scheduled every other month on the first Saturday of the month.  The background check usually takes several weeks.  Although this process of orientation and getting a badge does take some time, once you get through this process, you don’t have to go through this again for five years.

Other information that is pertinent:
(1) Volunteers cannot have a relative currently in Connors and go with us for Worship Services.
(2) The forms need to be sent directly to Oklahoma City at the address on the Volunteer Application Form.
