The Central American Committee will endeavor to reach Central America for Christ by maintaining a partnership with our missionaries and mission projects located in Central America. Park Plaza members are encouraged to participate in short term mission trips to Central America locations to expand our area of involvement where the gospel can be spread and souls added to the church.
After returning from a survey trip to Tegucigalpa, Honduras in December 2005, Mitch Wilburn and Mike Hawkins immediately began planning a spring mission trip. Our focus has since grown from Tegucigalpa to encompass all of Central America.

Check out the photos and videos from this years trip to Honduras.

Park Plaza is spreading the gospel in a big way in Central America!

Please pray for the work of these Park Plaza supported missionaries and missions in Honduras:

Amber Foster, Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Amber is the founder of Silver Mountain Ministries and the children and youth ministry coordinator for the El Mogote iglesia de Cristo (Church of Christ) in Tegucigalpa. Amber has been supported by Park Plaza since March of 2006.

She is also the Honduras coordinator for twenty to thirty mission teams from the U.S. each year. See her monthly newsletter to find out about other activities where she is involved. Amber's Newsletter.

Elmer Garcia, Sabanagrande, Honduras

Elmer is the minister for the Sabanagrande iglesia de Cristo and is supported by Park Plaza. He is a 2006 graduate of the Bible Institute of Central America. He was baptized in 2004 and he decided soon after his conversion to study to become an evangelist.

Bernardo Cabos, Catacamas, Honduras

Park Plaza supports Bernardo who works as a Predisan chaplain in the mountains around Catacomas. His activity is similar to that of the circuit rider of years ago. He travels for three weeks every month to serve and preach to the remote mountain congregations.

Predisan is one of the best organized church of Christ ministries in the world. Started by Dr. Robert Clark and his wife Doris in 1986, the ministry now consists of nine remote clinics, a modern hospital, a drug rehabilitation clinic, a preacher training school and an orphanage.

Sabanagrande iglesia de Cristo, Sabanagrande, Honduras

This is the church that the Park Plaza 2007 mission team helped start in March 2007. They have been averaging 22 to 24 adults, 12 to 14 teenagers, and 30 to 40 children in Bible class and worship service. Eight more souls have been added to the church in the last year. The 2008 mission team helped the church to plan and celebrate the first family day. More than 200 people from the community enjoyed the fun and fellowship.

Baxter Institute of Biblical Studies

In addition to the school’s general fund, Park Plaza supports one faculty member and two students. The school trains native preachers and evangelists to enter the ministry all over Latin America. The campus is located in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and has sixty-six students this year from eleven different Spanish speaking countries. See Baxter’s monthly newsletter for activity updates.

Bible Institute of Central America

Park Plaza partnered with BICA to plant the church in Sabanagrande in March 2007. Thirty-nine souls were won for Christ. The Honduran campus is located in El Progresso. They also have a campus in Guatemala and Nicaragua. See BICA’s monthly newsletter to see how the school is spreading the gospel in Central America.

John Moody Adams Medical Clinic

JMA is a sister ministry to the Baxter Institute. Baxter students use the clinic as a tool to share the gospel with people in need of medical attention. Two Baxter students are at the clinic on an hourly rotating basis whenever it is open. Fourteen patients were baptized by the students in 2006. The clinic is staffed by a Honduran dentist, doctor and pharmacist. Medical brigades from the US rotate through the clinic to assist the fulltime staff year round. A line of patients starts to form at the front gate each day before daybreak. Park Plaza sends yearly support to JMA and also supports three families in the nutritional program for children.

Truth for Today

Bibles and teaching materials written in Spanish are in short supply in Latin America. Truth for Today is a ministry located in Searcy, Arkansas that publishes prints and distributes these materials, at no charge, to Latin American ministers and churches that need them. Park Plaza contributes to Truth for Today and several of our supported ministries use their materials.

Panama City, Panama

This is our newest work in Central America. We have pick up the support of the Alvarados. Here is the latest newsletter.

Contact any member of the Central American Missions Committee for more information. Mike Hawkins is the chairman.
