Beliefs

Seeing the need for a church in what was then south Tulsa, the Park Plaza church family first met in a local elementary school. There were 75 present for the first worship service in July of 1963. With dreams of becoming a church that effectively ministered to the needs of it's community, a choice piece of property, consisting of 5 1/2 acres, was purchased. Eventually, a 29,000 square foot building was constructed on the site. In April of 2001, construction of an additional 25,000 square feet was completed.

Churches of Christ have a rich heritage in America's religious past. The Park Plaza Church of Christ, like most churches of Christ, is part of a movement to establish the unity of all Christians by following the Bible only. Our forefathers, part of the "restoration movement" of the 19th century, desired to do away with creeds and denominational divisions. Our quest is not to restore the church of the first century. Rather, our goal is to pursue the Jesus they pursued.
